GoldFax Architecture

GoldFax has been chosen for mission critical and high-volume faxing applications worldwide due to its unique robust architecture. GoldFax was designed for high demand faxing applications with low system overhead and ease of application integration. GoldFax software architecture advantages include:

High Performance and Low System Overhead
Reliability and Redundancy
Scalability and Load Balancing
Fax Connectivity
Thick and Thin Client Support
• Operating System Flexibility
Database Connectivity
Configurable Fax Document Management
• GoldFax Keywordsfor Easy Application Integration
• Least Cost Routing

High Performance and Low System Overhead – GoldFax uses a unique single send/receive service, multi-threaded software architecture. GoldFax does not require a dedicated computer server. In fact, GoldFax remains in a “sleep” state (as opposed to competitor’s polling-based fax software) until a fax document is received or is to be sent. GoldFax has a high-performance rendering engine for processing the documents to be faxed.

Reliability and Redundancy – GoldFax is integrated with, but not dependent upon, your Email environment. This ensures the highest level of reliability and redundancy. You can still receive and send faxes even if your Email server is inoperable. Choose any combination of the following faxing methods: Send and receive faxes via Email, send and receive faxes from any Windows application via GoldFax Client application, send faxes via GoldFax Web Client, receive faxes in network folders, and send faxes directly from any application on any platform (Windows, Unix, Linux, mainframe systems) via GoldFax Production and Integration Module. For maximum reliability, GoldFax supports Microsoft Cluster and automatic fail over environments.

Scalability and Load Balancing – GoldFax is designed for high-volume faxing applications. GoldFax is based upon a componentised Windows Services architecture that allows distributed services deployments. Scale from a single channel (telephone line connection) on a single system to multiple remote GoldFax fax board servers supporting multi-channel fax boards (analog and digital T1). The only practical limit is the number of available board slots on multiple server systems. GoldFax also supports automatic load balancing in multi GoldFax remote board server configurations.

Fax Connectivity – GoldFax supports the following fax connectivity methods: real-time fax over IP (FoIP) via T.38 protocol and SIP call control, Serial port Class 2 Fax Modems, USB Class 2 Fax Modems, and Intelligent Fax Boards.

Thick and Thin Client Support – GoldFax is designed for thick and thin client environments (Citrix and Microsoft Windows Terminal Services). Mixed environments with thick and thin client users are supported as well.

Operating System Flexibility – The GoldFax Server software can be deployed on Microsoft Windows Server (NT, 2000, 2003) or Workstation (2000 Pro, XP Pro) Operating Systems. This provides more options for deployment for small organisations or smaller remote offices in distributed enterprise applications.

Database Connectivity – GoldFax can be dynamically linked to external databases for contact information including Microsoft Outlook Contacts and any ODBC-compliant database (Microsoft Access and SQL Server, Oracle, IBM DB2, etc.) or spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel).

Configurable Fax Document Management – GoldFax can be configured to meet your unique fax document management requirements. GoldFax automatically archives received and sent faxes as TIFF and Adobe PDF files. The fax file and folder naming is configurable to include: fax number, user’s name, date, time, DID, CSID, number of pages, etc. GoldFax faxes can be automatically saved to your Document Management system.

GoldFax Keywords for Easy Application Integration – At the heart of the GoldFax fax server application are GoldFax Keywords. These are the commands GoldFax uses to control fax processes. GoldFax Keywords are accessible by customers and software developers via the GoldFax Production and Integration Module. This lets you automate the faxing of documents directly from software applications and bypass the GoldFax user interface. This is perfect for automating applications like ERP (for example, automated faxing of invoices). GoldFax Keywords along with GoldFax Folder Monitor and GoldFax Form Overlay functions are useable by non-programmers and programmers. In addition, the GoldFax ActiveX (COM) Application Programming Interface (API), provides tools for application developers to directly control GoldFax via external software applications.

Least Cost Routing – GoldFax supports automatic least cost routing in multiple GoldFax Fax server/site (LAN/WAN) configurations to route outbound faxes based upon the recipient fax number.

GoldFax Advantage #1
Simplicity
GoldFax is built to be easily installed, deployed and used. Our technology is advanced with robust capabilities, yet the installation process is quick and easy, and we make the user interface seamless.

GoldFax is very easy for your users to understand and is transparent to everyone since all they do is select a GoldFax "printer" from the print dialogue box, fill out the fax number and press print. After that instant, the fax sent to the server for processing and the user can go back to work.

Many of our competitors have products that are complex to install, deploy and use, and that often require several days of consultant installation time.
